The Waterbury AGO Chapter has established a scholarship program, launched in the fall of 2024. In order to apply, the Applicant must:
- Be a Connecticut resident or student at a Connecticut educational institution that does not provide scholarships for organ study.
- Have previous keyboard instrument study/experience.
- Be a member or join at any level the Waterbury AGO
- Be enthusiastic about the organ, demonstrating this by attending recitals and other events of the Waterbury AGO, and be willing to perform in a members’ recital following completion of study supported by this scholarship. Chapter members will be eager to share in the benefit this scholarship has brought to the awardee.
- Provide an unedited mp3 file of two short pieces in differing styles played on a keyboard instrument, and provide a copy of the scores to the committee.
- Submit the recording, score and completed form to the treasurer: Michael Petruzzi at pianoman087@yahoo.com
- Make yourself available for an in person interview if the committee so requires.

Upon completion, please send a recording and copy of the score to Michael Petruzzi at pianoman087@yahoo.com
- The amount of the scholarship is $500.
- The award will be paid by the chapter directly to the chapter approved teacher at the time of the award. 10 sessions must be completed to the satisfaction of the teacher within 12 months of the award.
- Should the per lesson fee be higher than $50, the student is responsible to pay the balance.
- Any fees for practice instrument, organ shoes or musical scores are the student’s responsibility.
- The student may reapply for the scholarship once more after the initial award provided the teacher has certified that the lessons were satisfactory and the student has fulfilled the requirements of the chapter in attendance and in performance at the Members’ recital.
The application form is available in the fall. It will be sent out to the chapter membership by a Board member.
The Board will also actively fundraise to replenish the fund as it is used. Please contact the Dean if you would like to donate to this fund!
